All Women Advancement and Resource Development (AWARD) is a Voluntary organization established in 1994 as non-profit, registered under the Societies Act 1860. AWARD has integrated development and Gender Right Based approach covering all the areas that relates to human rights i.e. Reproductive/Sexual Health, HIV/AIDS, Governance, Political & Civic Education, and Income Generation and has outreach in 21 districts including Tribal area/FATA. AWARD works at National level on Governance Political Education and HIV/AIDS with the support of partner organization. A two pronged approach is adopted by AWARD for the fulfillment of the aims & the objectives; direct help to women and youth is given by carrying out projects wherever possible. Indirect support is provided through training courses, IEC & BCC material development & Research work which AWARD produces for staff of other Organizations who work for the uplift of the women and children. This two pronged approach means that we can reach a greater number of women’s & children’s needs than is possible by implementation alone.
“In 2005, AWARD received UN Recognition Award on the 60th Anniversary of United Nations for AWARD’s work on rights of PLWHA (People Living with HIV/AID), violence against women and overall performance of the organization.”
AWARD has a tremendous contribution in implementing Governance, Political and Civic Education Program at community level, conducted workshops for capacity building of 540 NGOs, CBOs, and WOs. AWARD does not only work to increase women voters’ registration but also encourages women to come forward as candidates in electoral process. AWARD has conducted monitoring of activities in the General Election 1997-2002 including LG elections. A number of 255,773 voters and 189,407 CNICs were registered by AWARD during the execution of its projects. AWARD dedicated efforts established a Girls Degree College in Sakhakot Malakand which will benefit a population of about 45,000 residences living in these areas. AWARD also observed and monitored the General Elections 2008 & 2013 and by Elections.
AWARD has launched media trainings and extensively utilized media for its projects. AWARD produced 25 talk shows on Good Governance and also provided host / anchor to PTV & AVT Khyber on the issues related to governance. AWARD carried Advocacy Campaign for increasing women participation, and seats in the Provincial & National Assemblies. As a result of the organization efforts, 33% seats / representation was given to women.
