Marvi Rural Development Organization (MRDO) was established in 1994 and got registered under the Societies Act as a non-profit, non-government organization that envisioned to support and alleviate social sufferings of the marginalized community, particularly the rural women. MRDO has almost two decades of vast experience in designing and successfully implementing diversified projects for vulnerable, disastrous and underserved communities with harnessing, empowering and accountable approach.
MRDO has successfully implemented various projects in nine districts of Sindh, mainly focusing on women empowerment, access to justice, peace and harmony, health, education, disability, community physical infrastructure, research, emergencies and institutional development.
The organization is currently implementing projects in four districts i.e. Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana and Khairpur under the thematic areas of education, women rights, access to justice, legal aid and shelters.
Its Vision is social and economic empowerment of the underprivileged women and communities at the grassroots level, while its Mission is to enhance the role and socio-economic status of the people especially the women of deprived communities by providing them assistance & sustainable prospects.
The organization’s Objectives are to improve health status of the under-privileged with special focus on rural women and children; to increase literacy rate with special focus on functional literacy and primary girls’ education; to improve the living standard of women and children by sustainable participatory
integrated development; to motivate and facilitate rural communities through formation of Community Based Organizations; to strengthen organizational capacities and sector skills of the rural communities by imparting trainings; to improve the socioeconomic status of vulnerable groups through savings and credit for viable income generation activities and to eliminate violence against women, honour killing, tradition of dowry and early marriages through social mobilization of rural communities and advocacy, lobbying and networking with like-minded organizations.
