Citizens can register election complaints on FAFEN web portal

ISLAMABAD, April 16, 2013: Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) has provided the citizens of Pakistan an opportunity to register election-related complaints on FAFEN web portal, electionpakistan.org, in order to induce responsive action. FAFEN believes citizens have the right and the responsibility to monitor the performance of government officials and civil servants, says a press release issued here on Tuesday.

FAFEN web portal provides a mechanism for citizens to report their concerns about the administration of the 2013 General Elections to FAFEN and/or the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in order to seek corrective action from state authorities.

The citizens have just to fill out a form to report a violation of the election process that they observe in their neighbourhood. A FAFEN Representative may call them for further details. What is required is to provide First name, Last name, Email ID, CNIC number, Cell number, Nature of Violation (a dropdown of violations appear over a click), District (a dropdown of districts appear over a click) and Constituency (a dropdown of constituencies appear over a click).

The citizens will also inform FAFEN whether they want their name to appear along with the violation on the blog. Finally they click ‘Submit’ and the violation will appear on the screen.
