ISLAMABAD, October 8, 2018: Mr. Hameedullah Khan Kakar has been elected as the new Secretary General of Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) for a two-year term. He was elected at the meeting of FAFEN General Council held in Lahore on October 6, 2018. The Council also elected two members on women reserved seats, and two members each from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. One member from Sindh became member of the Executive Council while one seat remained vacant.
An independent Election Committee, comprising senior journalists Nasir Zaidi and Amir Wasim was formed to conduct free, fair and transparent elections. The committee completed the electoral process and conducted the elections smoothly. The outgoing Secretary General, Sarwar Bari, administered the oath to the newly-elected members. According to FAFEN’s rules, the election of the Secretary General, and the Executive Council is held after every two years.
