ISLAMABAD, December 4, 2015: Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) will deploy 1,043 independent, neutral and unbiased observers to observe the third and last phase of the Local Government elections in Sindh and Punjab tomorrow, says a press statement issued on Friday.
As many as 895 (573 male, 322 female) observers will be deployed in Punjab and 148 (116 male, 32 female) in Sindh to observe the Election Day processes. The Network has already observed the first two phases of the LG elections and the one held in Islamabad Capital Territory on November 30, 2015.
A Call Center has also been established at FAFEN Secretariat where 70 representatives will make phone calls to the observers throughout the day and document their findings. Six staff members will monitor 12 national TV channels from 7.00 in the morning till 10.00 in the evening. Observers will visit 3,484 polling stations in Punjab and 508 in Sindh. After collecting the information, a Press Conference will be held on Sunday, where FAFEN will release Preliminary report on the conduct of third phase of Local Government elections in Sindh and Punjab.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has granted permission to FAFEN to observe all three phases of Local Government elections in the two provinces as well as Islamabad Capital Territory. Details of FAFEN observers have already been shared with the Commission and the observers have also signed a Pledge Form, reaffirming their neutrality in the whole election process and given an undertaking that they will abide by the Code of Conduct issued by the ECP.
