President Zardari to Address Parliament for 9th Time

President Asif Ali Zardari is scheduled to address a joint sitting of Parliament today (March 2, 2026) afternoon at 3:00 pm. This will be his third address during his current presidential term and his ninth address overall.

During his current term as 14th President of Pakistan, he has addressed Parliament on:

  • April 18, 2024
  • March 10, 2025

Including the today’s sitting, he will have addressed Parliament three times in his current (second) tenure.

During his first term (2008–2013), President Zardari addressed Parliament six times:

  • September 20, 2008
  • March 28, 2009
  • April 5, 2010
  • March 22, 2011
  • March 17, 2012
  • June 10, 2013

In comparison, the 12th President Mamnoon Hussain addressed Parliament four times, while the 13th President Arif Alvi addressed Parliament five times during their respective terms.

Article 56(3) of the Constitution of Pakistan requires the President to address a joint sitting of both Houses at the commencement of the first session of each parliamentary year.

In addition to the mandatory annual address, Article 56(1) empowers the President to address either House separately or both Houses assembled together at any time.
