Rahim Yar Khan, February 13, 2025: FAFEN’s regional network, South Punjab Regional Network (SPRN), recently launched its YouTube channel in December 2024, South Punjab Regional Network,” showcasing the power of social media in advancing democratic governance, electoral reforms, and regional development in Pakistan. Initiated through a TDEA-FAFEN’s training program on enhancing communication skills and using social media platforms for enhanced reach, the newly launched channel gained traction from over 60 subscribers, with more than 1,000 views, and aims to rapidly increase subscribers by sharing informative videos on empowering democracy in South Punjab.
In May 2024, TDEA-FAFEN conducted training sessions aimed at mobilizing and empowering its regional networks to become strong voices in the debate on establishing citizen-centered governance at the regional, provincial, and federal levels. Digital research skills were one of the key components of the training attended by 557 representatives from 388 FAFEN’s regional member organizations including 458 men and 99 women.
As a result, TDEA-FAFEN enabled the SPRN to launch its first-ever YouTube channel. Designed to highlight the network’s initiatives, promote local government elections in Punjab, and address governance issues, the channel offers diverse, engaging content—informative videos on governance, social issues, project documentaries, expert interviews, and live election updates. By producing meaningful engagement, the SPRN channel highlights social media’s potential to promote democratic change. Through this channel’s success, the SPRN has become a model for other civil society organizations to reach wider audiences and enhance impact through digital collaborations.
