Sohbatpur: 48% of Population Registered as Voters, Above National Ratio

Sohbatpur’s voter registration rate stands at 48% of its estimated 2025 population — six percentage points below the national ratio of 54%.

Methodology

These figures are drawn from district-wise electoral roll statistics released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on 30 December 2025. They are cross-referenced against population estimates derived from the 2023 Digital Census. The 2025 population estimate applies the 3.06% inter-censal annual growth rate to Sohbatpur’s census base population of 240,106, yielding an estimated 2025 population of 255,025. Registration rates are calculated by dividing the number of registered voters by this estimated population.

Voter registration in Sohbatpur

The district has 123,562 registered voters — 63,238 males (51.2%) and 60,324 females (48.8%). Among males, 49% of the estimated population is registered; among females, 48%. Sohbatpur ranks 124th out of 136 districts nationally by population size and is constituting one-quarter of a National Assembly constituency shared across four districts.

By voter registration rate, Sohbatpur ranks 91st nationally and 3rd of 34 within Balochistan.

Why registration trails the national ratio

Sohbatpur’s below-average registration rate reflects conditions common across Balochistan. Geographic distances between settlements and registration facilities, and low population density, make sustained ECP outreach logistically demanding.

Nomadic and semi-nomadic communities enumerated at a temporary location may hold permanent CNIC registration elsewhere — or may not be registered. Both factors reduce the voter-to-population ratio.

Female voters constitute 48.8% of the registered electorate, reflecting a narrow gender gap of 2.4%. Targeted registration outreach for women in Sohbatpur should remain a priority before the next general elections.
