Minority women face multiple challenges when it comes to their participation in the political process. Here’s more on the subject.

Muzaffargarh, November 22, 2023: FAFEN’s regional network Chenab Civil Society Network SYCOP organized an awareness-raising event held in Khuda Bakhsh Basti in Tehsil Alipur district Muzaffargarh.

The event was aimed at raising awareness regarding the importance of vote and highlighting accessibility challenges faced by the minority community women, specifically regarding polling stations.

Along with the women from the minority community, the session was attended by Mr. Mian Muhammad Islam, District Election Commissioner, and Mr. Muhammad Khalid, Election Officer. They were joined by five councilors from the minority community. A notable part of the event was the interactive mock voting exercise facilitated by the election officer. This hands-on experience was helpful for women in understanding the processes of voting and the significance of their vote.

Furthermore, the minority women received assurance from the DEC office representatives that challenges encountered during voting, particularly accessibility issues faced by women, will be addressed. This commitment highlights the dedication to ensuring an inclusive and accessible electoral process for all members of the community.
