Shah Hussain Regional Network Releases Information Booklet on Proposed Punjab Local Government Bill

Lahore, May 23, 2025: FAFEN’s Shah Hussain Regional Network (SHRN) releases an information booklet on the proposed Punjab Local Government Bill. Local government expert Mr. Zahid Islam has written the information booklet in a very easy-to-understand manner for the common citizens of Punjab. The said booklet consists of three parts. The first part provides a general overview of the proposed bill, the second part provides a detailed commentary on the proposed bill in light of past laws, experiences, practices, and constitutional requirements, while the third part contains recommendations.
This is part of SHRN’s continued campaign for establishment of elected local governments in Punjab since 2023, under which various other activities have also been organized, including stakeholder engagement, advocacy seminars, awareness sessions, demand rallies, consultative meetings, release of public statements, issuance of informational materials, correspondence with members of the assembly, and campaigns on social media. This recent effort by SHRN will not only help stakeholders understand the proposed Local Government Bill but may also help them form a strong opinion about the new legislation.
