Ziarat: 41% of Population Registered as Voters, Above National Ratio

Ziarat’s voter registration rate stands at 41% of its estimated 2025 population — 13 percentage points below the national ratio of 54%.

Methodology

These figures are drawn from district-wise electoral roll statistics released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on 30 December 2025. They are cross-referenced against population estimates derived from the 2023 Digital Census. The 2025 population estimate applies the 2.86% inter-censal annual growth rate to Ziarat’s census base population of 189,535, yielding an estimated 2025 population of 200,531. Registration rates are calculated by dividing the number of registered voters by this estimated population.

Voter registration in Ziarat

The district has 82,289 registered voters — 44,726 males (54.4%) and 37,563 females (45.6%). Among males, 44% of the estimated population is registered; among females, 38%. Ziarat ranks 134th out of 136 districts nationally by population size and is constituting one-fifth of a National Assembly constituency shared across five districts.

By voter registration rate, Ziarat ranks 113th nationally and 16th of 34 within Balochistan.

Why registration trails the national ratio

Ziarat’s below-average registration rate reflects conditions common across Balochistan. Geographic distances between settlements and registration facilities, and low population density, make sustained ECP outreach logistically demanding.

Nomadic and semi-nomadic communities enumerated at a temporary location may hold permanent CNIC registration elsewhere — or may not be registered. Both factors reduce the voter-to-population ratio.

Female voters constitute 45.6% of the registered electorate, reflecting a significant gender gap of 8.7%. Targeted registration outreach for women in Ziarat should remain a priority before the next general elections.
