Shah Hussain Regional Network Highlights Need for a Collaborative Effort to Promote Inclusive Elections

Inclusive elections are a must and all stakeholders need to come together to promote it. Here’s what else needs to be done!

Sheikhupura, December 11, 2023: FAFEN’s Shah Hussain Regional Network organized a community-based session on barring women from voting and participating in elections, facilitated by tehsil member organization Ujala Foundation.

The purpose of the event was to involve the community members in highlighting the issues of women being barred from participating in electoral processes. The participants shared that women’s political participation could be hindered by various factors such as lack of access to resources, limited mobilization, etc.

As a result, women are less likely to vote or contest in elections. To promote inclusive elections, a collaborative effort from the community, election authorities, and civil society organizations is required.
